Our History
The OPAT story began in 1949 when David Opat established his painting and decorating business in Melbourne after arriving in Australia.
More than 75 years later, the OPAT name continues to represent the values on which the business was built – quality workmanship, integrity and service.
OPAT's Queensland operations have been established for more than two decades, delivering commercial painting and building maintenance projects across South East Queensland.
Our extensive industry experience means we understand that a successful repaint is about more than applying a new coating. Our team can identify underlying issues that may need to be addressed before or during the works, helping to protect the integrity of the finished paint system and deliver a better long-term result and value for our clients.
With a strong presence in the strata and body corporate sector, OPAT works across a diverse range of residential and commercial properties, delivering projects ranging from planned painting and maintenance works through to major external and internal repainting, building repairs and rectification works.
Our painting, concrete repair and waterproofing works are carried out by our own experienced OPAT team, rather than subcontracted crews. This gives us greater control over workmanship, safety, communication and the quality of the finished result.
Our team works closely with body corporate managers, building managers, committees, project managers and consultants throughout the project process, with a focus on quality workmanship, clear communication and minimising disruption to residents and building occupants.

Concrete repairs and rectification, waterproofing, façade maintenance, building wash-downs and general building maintenance. OPAT holds QBCC licences for Painting & Decorating, Waterproofing and Concreting – Concrete Repairs.
Specialised Access Solutions
Rope access, swing stage, EWP and other access solutions for multi-storey and difficult-to-access areas.
Height Safety & Building Services
Anchor testing and installation, building inspections, window cleaning and associated maintenance services.
