Community Education Seminars – North QLD Presenters Announced!

This week we announce our North Queensland Seminar presenters who will provide answers to the question that is recurring for many strata committees, By-laws: Are they worth the paper they are written on?

It is our pleasure to introduce Jason Carlson and Jessica Cannon from Grace Lawyers who will take to the stage for our North Queensland audience. The Cairns event will kick off the North QLD leg of the seminar series on Tuesday 11th of October 2022  then move on to Townsville the following evening on Wednesday 12th of October 2022 where Jason Carlson will be featured. The following week, the seminar series moves to Mackay where Jessica Cannon will be presenting and also joined by the ever-popular former commissioner Chris Irons from Strata Solve.

More about the presenters:

Grace Lawyers is a strata law firm that acts exclusively for bodies corporate and committees. In 2021, Grace Lawyers was recognised by the pre-eminent strata industry body as one of three leading Strata Services Businesses.  In 2022, Jessica Cannon and her team from Cannon and Co joined Grace Lawyers shortly after also being recognised as being one of only two of the leading Strata Services Businesses in Queensland in 2022.  The merge brings together the only two law firms in Queensland to receive that recognition.

Jason Carlson is the partner in charge of the firm’s Queensland team.  He has also been a director of Strata Community Association in Queensland since 2016 and has been on its legislation committee since 2013.  His contributions to and leadership within Queensland’s strata industry were recognised when he received The SCA Qld President’s Award in 2022.

Jessica Cannon is actively involved in the firm’s delivery of services to all parts of Queensland. She is known for her accessibility, promptness, common-sense approach, and attention to detail.

In 2020, Jessica was appointed as a member of the SCA (Qld) Legislation Committee, which has been instrumental in the BCCM regulation module reforms. Jessica’s passion is advocating for bodies corporate and ensuring they have legislation in place to support and enable them to properly administer and operate their schemes.

Both Jessica & Jason have a plethora of knowledge surrounding Strata and the by-laws within these communities. We are very honoured to have them be apart of the Smart Strata Seminars.

Archers the Strata Professionals North Queensland Managing Partners, Frank Griesau (Townsville), Stephen McCulloch (Cairn ), and Melissa Braney (Whitsundays) will also be joining the sessions to provider their insights on the topic of by-laws from a strata managers perspective.

All presenters are set to bring an original and educated opinion formed from knowledge and experience within the strata industry. We encourage as many strata property owners to attend these events, which could be just the information needed to clear up some of the long-running questions within your own strata community!
